Design Engineer Intern (Fall 2026)

Remote, USFall 2026 term12 to 15 hrs/week

Counters that communicate

CLICR replaces the beat-up manual tally counter that door and event teams have been using for decades. Door staff already clic people in and out all night. We don’t change that. We take the count they are already keeping, put every counter on one live number, and turn the night into a report the operator can act on the next morning.

That count has run over 1.75 million guests through venues including Grand Central Terminal, Hotel Chelsea, Public Hotel and SXSW activations.

The role runs for school credit, if your school allows it.

What you’ll work on

Mostly UI and UX layout. The web dashboard owners and managers pull up in a browser is the biggest piece of it, but not the only one. You would work directly with both founders, with no product manager layer in between, which means you will be asked what you think and it will matter.

  • UI and UX layout across the product
  • Turning a rough idea into a flow and a set of screens someone can actually use
  • Component and pattern work, so the product stops being a collection of one-off pages
  • Whatever else comes up. Small team, and it moves

You would be designing more than anything else, and building enough to see your own work running. The data and backend side sits with another engineer, so that is not yours to carry.

What you get out of it

  • Work that ships. Real venues, real nights, real usage
  • Direct access to both founders, every week
  • Credit on the design system you help build
  • A reference from people who watched you work, not people who read your resume
  • First call on full-time roles when we open them in early 2027

Who we’re looking for

Someone who designs and builds. Not one or the other. You should be able to take a rough spec and come back with a working interface.

  • You have shipped something we can open in a browser
  • You are comfortable in Figma and in a codebase
  • You are enrolled for the term, and can take school credit if your school allows it
  • You can commit 12 to 15 hours a week, reliably

Bonus, not required

  • React
  • Firebase
  • Design systems
  • Hospitality, events, or nightlife
  • Having worked a door, a bar, or a floor
